8) Continued disruptive behaviour or excessive abusive behaviour will NOT be tolerated. This includes name-calling of other posters.

10) All ticket requests/sales and GT merchandise items should be posted on the North Ave Trader. Posts on other message boards for these items will be removed. Commercial activities for profit is expressly prohibited (i.e. no scalpers).
11) The Hive has become an increasingly public forum in the past year. We have more readers and more posters than ever before. As often happens in a large group, the level of conversation tends to degenerate to the lowest common denominator. Well, sadly, that has happened on the Hive and furthermore, it has worn on me close to a point where running the Hive is no longer a great hobby, but is instead becoming a job. In addition, there are large number of folks (many of whom I talked to this weekend) that think the overall worth of information has dropped considerably. It's no reflection on the more recent Hivers because we certainly have seen some VERY fine individuals added recently so none of you should take offense. In any case, I am not going to let this slide continue to happen. So, in that vein, I'd like to offer a few suggestions (some will become "law") on how you can help me and also bring the level of conversation and posting BACK to a level worthy of a GT fan forum:
12) Most of the people that read the Hive are interested in finding out things about Georgia Tech. A lot of us (more than you might believe) don't give a flying farge about the SEC, UGag, or any of several other topics that appear far too frequently. Occasional posts are OK. But, the constant harping on certain non-GT topics WILL cease. If you want to bait the opposition, then do it somewhere else, because there are a WHOLE lot of us that are sick and tired of seeing the same endless war and flames (from both sides). If you continue to do this, then eventually I will nuke you - regardless of school affiliation - because you will be considered to be disruptive. It's time some of you started pulling FOR GT instead of AGAINST others. I know this is going to make some of you mad at me. Well, I am sorry about that and I don't mean to do that. But, it's become a necessary stance on my part.
13) Please do NOT make posts of the nature like "So-and-so check your email" or "So-and-so, please email me" or anything else like that. This isn't your personal message board and making those posts only force posts that may be of interest and value to the rest of the Hive off the board. From now on, I will yank those posts. The only time I do it is when I have Hive business with that particular person.
14) Please do NOT post ticket sales/requests anywhere but the North Avenue Trader. Posts violating this rule will be pulled as soon as I see them.
15) Do not post profanity of any nature here. That includes to usual array of 4 letter words as well as synonyms for butt/bum/arse and the one for a female dog. Inserting $'s or other characters IS NOT an acceptable substitute. I am tired of warning people of this. From here on out, even the smallest violation of this will result in the pulling of the post - NO MORE WARNINGS! As was the policy before, repeated violations will result in a revocation of your posting privileges.
16) We occasionally get our share of fans from other schools that are interested in doing nothing more than stirring up trouble. Do NOT respond to them any more. That just gives them reason to keep on trying. Now, I know this is tough. Heck, I respond myself sometimes (against my better judgement). But, take the high road and just let it go. You know the old expression about not arguing with a pig because he will just get you both muddy and he will enjoy it? It could not apply more than in this scenario.
Furthermore, if you ARE a fan of the opposition and it becomes apparent that the only reason you are posting is to stir up trouble, then your days are going to be numbered on the Hive. I no longer have the patience to tolerate that behavior. There are TOO many folks on the Hive to let that happen any more.
17) Relax and have fun. Rule #1 is obviously not to be taken literally, but it is intended to show the mindset you should have when you are reading and posting on the Hive. Some take this stuff entirely too seriously and things rapidly degenerate to personal attacks and ugly behavior. If someone is an idiot (GT fan or otherwise), then ignore them. Don't waste your time on their posts. Certainly, you don't want to lower yourself to their level.
18) Do a quick check of the Hive before posting to see if the question you are about to ask or the article you just read and were about to post has already been posted. Far too many folks don't read past the first 15 lines of the Hive before posting. In a nutshell, that is rather selfish behvior on their part to force ALL of us to read the same stuff over and over. Now, I understand that it happens by accident sometimes, but by and large it's just laziness.
I greatly appreciate your cooperation in these matters. Hopefully, these guidelines will help make the Hive a better place as we have moved in to the future!
19) Please direct all questions about this policy to reck@gojackets.com.
